After reading a few of my peers’ blogs I realized how formal my blogs have been. I noticed a few common things within the blogs. One noticeable quality was the colorful nature of the entries. They were all written with character. I chose to read our second blog entries. The topic was a billboard analysis of our choosing.
A uninamous hesitation towards completing an analysis on a billboard was initially apparent but it soon faded. What remained were words more descriptive than analytical. Their rhetorical styles focused more on description and opinion than actual analysis. The anylitical is present but breif. This is something I share with my classmates. I struggle to find the words to elaborate on what the message is and the method being used to have that message conveyed. It’s something I can understand more than explain.
Another commonality I found was their perception as to whether pathos, logos and/or ethos was used and how it was used within the advertisement. Their interpretation of how the advertiser was appealing to their audience was effectively accurate. Throughout their own blogging they also used their own methods of appeal.
After reading how my peers interpret the meaning behind advertisements as well as the way they interpret our assignments has allowed me to see similarities and differences in my own writing. Although the writing styles are all different, everyone’s syntax and diction appear to be very proficient.
